DAMON BERRY

Celebration Song

enough of humane alien fashion-faking freaks
enough of vegetarians with their soya-sausages and leeks
enough of oprah winfrey and the money-making zen
enough of the usa, microsoft and CNbloodyN

enough of over-subscribed malls filling up with shopping slaves
enough of artificial beaches pumping chlorine waves
enough of women’s magazines hyping anorexic fakes
enough of shallow politicians who never admit mistakes

enough of the internet
enough of platform shoes
enough of regret
enough

i’m bored with the future now

enough of new-improved fat-free eco-friendly shit
enough of narcissistic gym freaks who’re unhealthy when they’re fit
enough of trying to cram every aspect of your life into your cellular phone
enough of starving africans enjoying the last meat on the bone

enough of breaking news breaking ratings instead of truth
enough of marketing drones creating i-cons for the youth
enough of a war on terror that’s only making things worse
enough of eternal love that only ends in divorce

enough of hiv
enough of the ever-rising sea
enough of being free
enough

i’m bored with the future now

enough of digital effects trying to save every movie plot
enough of the public swallowing the bloated reality tv rot
enough of teenage sycophants in their baggy pants
enough of hip hip-hop gangstas and their phony ghetto rants

enough of traffic cops, coffee-shops and internet cafes
enough of egotist evangelists who only ever praise themselves
enough of the corporate necktie-noose around every single face
enough of the muscle-cramps I get when I run down the human race

enough of tv, wonder cures, and living further above your means
enough of drifting further and further and further from your dreams
enough of icons and heroes, of egos and brain
enough of fast food and pissing vitamins down the drain

enough of spiritual fashion, of healing as hype
enough with a sick society so obsessed with type

enough of me
enough

i’m bored with the future now
but then maybe
i’m just bored with myself
